Pocahontas Dam
Morristown, NJ
About This Project
The more than 100-year-old Pocahontas Dam in Morristown, New Jersey, had begun shifting and risked future collapse, so Grade was selected to reinforce the structure. The project involved installing sheeting and piles in the river behind the dam to stabilize the structure and prevent further movement.
Environmental sensitivity was paramount to this reconstruction, as the river needed to remain passable for fish. To meet environmental protection standards set by the EPA, the river was diverted to one side, allowing aquatic life to continue downstream while keeping debris out of the waterway. The project was completed on time and within budget, earning the client’s approval and cementing our position as an environmentally responsible infrastructure rehabilitation expert.
