Elizabeth River Levee Flood Control
Elizabeth, NJ
About This Project
Faced with persistent flooding due to tidal waters and being situated below sea level, the Elizabeth River Levee needed to be rehabilitated and lasting solutions implemented within the existing flood infrastructure. The project involved replacing outdated tide gates that were responsible for managing water flow between the river and the city’s stormwater system. Given the tidal nature of the river, work had to be carefully scheduled around low and high tides, ensuring uninterrupted progress while minimizing the potential environmental impact.
Despite the complexities of timing and environmental sensitivity, our team efficiently completed the project and delivered a resilient flood control system. The upgraded infrastructure earned high praise from the client and now provides significant flood protection for the surrounding community.
